no way!

okay.  so.  you can tell by my moniker that i have a ginormous crush on george gordon, lord byron.  today i was poking around the internet looking at portraits of him  and i kept thinking ‘lord byron reminds me of someone.  who does he remind me of?  cleft chin.  dark, wild hair.  big pouty lips.’  then tonight, i was looking up some song lyrics to pad my nanowrimo novel wordcount and came upon this:

john

i’m sorry, but i dare you to tell me he doesn’t look like my beloved byron:

whaaaaaaaat?!

my boyfriend, eddie izzard, has a documentary and he forgot to call me and let me know?  (click the pic for the nyt review.)

whew!

after a long and chaotic weekend wedding for a destination wedding bride, i was in desperate need of some whimsy.  i’m so very glad i discovered rebecca danger via knit purl.  she designs the most amazing toy patterns for knitting.  in particular, i fell in love with her monsters.  i remember an exboyfriend telling me about his niece or nephew keeping stuffed monsters under the bed and in the closet to confuse the closet monster and bed monster, should they try to pay a visit.  to that end, i intend to knit up a number of these danger-ous guys and girls to ward off the office monster, the craft room monster, the dvr monster, the clogged sink monster, the bad economy monster, the…  well, you get the idea!

delicious fabric

for the past week i have been absolutely obsessed with amy butler’s lotus quilt pattern.  and while i covet amy butler’s fabric, they are a bit too funky for me for a project this size.  (read: reminds me too much of the house i grew up in from 1974-mid-80s).

in my browsing for fabric i discovered tina givens delicious ‘chloe’s imagination‘ collection.  apparently, it is inspired by the designer’s childhood garden in africa.  to my sensibilities, it is wonderfully english themes in bold and unexpected colors.  i almost couldn’t wait to order the fabric.

luckily, i did and found a great bargain at fabritopia.  (whose owner does a great blog.)

after a whole week of waiting, i got these:

oh… the yum.

an eclectic mix and very unlike me.  and i think that’s why i can’t wait to finish the quilt.

fave wedding pics

well, bren and i have been married for almost 2 months now.  i suppose it is time to post a couple of pics.  these are two of my faves:

we are getting married next week at los poblanos.  if the weather will cooperate by getting a bit cooler, we plan to have our ceremony here:

think cool and breezy thoughts for us, ‘kay?

well…  i’m not sure why, but i kinda thought that since i have made a living planning weddings and other events for about six years now that i could put together my own wedding without a hitch.  foolish foolish me.

i am encountering the same last-minute headaches most of my brides hire me to deal with.  only, this time i have no emotional distance.  trouble with the venue.  stress over family.  late rsvps.  (not you, liz and scott.)  uncooperative weather.

i’m just ready for it to be over – for better or worse, no pun intended – so sean and i can run away to our honeymoon.  we’re spending a few days in the gila at bear creek cabins.  we’ll be in cabin 11 with no cell phones and no internet – a promise we’ve made to one another as we know we’ll never be able to be so disconnected again.

sean thinks it’s because our save-the-dates have a photo of us and it is obvious that we enjoy food.  i think it’s because people know we are foodies.  but the fact of the matter is that it doesn’t matter why.  we are receiving food-related wedding gifts and are tickled silly!

tagine 1

(have i ever mentioned how much i love my 1950's oven?)

last week we received a tagine from clark family friends, jeanne and tom.  on saturday we prepared our first tagine – the food cooked in a tagine is also called tagine – chicken with fennel bulb.  holy moly!  that’s some seriously amazing food.  we are now trying to figure out how to cook all three meals a day in the miraculous tagine.

thanks so much, jeanne and tom!
